Spreckels Mansion Crime Scene Again; Sources Say 6-Year-Old Brain Dead

CORONADO - Coronado Police have revisited Spreckels Mansion. Officers executed a search warrant late Friday evening. Sources close to the case, tell us the 6-year old son of pharmaceutical tycoon Jonah Shacknai is brain dead.

All day long Jonah and Dina Shacknai have been at Rady Children's Hospital by their 6-year old son's bedside. Sources close to the case tell us the child named "Max" is on life support. The Shacknai's we have been told will be donating their son's organs. We are also getting word their is a strong possibility a criminal investigation may be starting up on the boy's fall.

Outside the Spreckels Mansion Friday afternoon a bouquet of flowers sat on the lawn placed on a small pedestal. Those who left the flowers did not say who they were for. Sheriff investigators released no new details on the "suspicious" death of 32-year old Rebecca Nalepa also known as Rebecca Zahau.

As police look into the death of pharmaceutical millionaire Jonah Shacknai's girlfriend, Rebecca, Shacknai's focus is on his 6-year old son - - "Max" who is here at Rady Children's Hospital. Sources close to the case say the child is brain dead, and it's expected his organs will be donated.

A neighbor living nearby the mansion witnessed paramedics hurrying to save the 6-year old after his fall on Monday. The neighbor did not want to be identified, but said, "We saw them all in the entry working on this person. I just said my little prayer, and I turned around."

On Wednesday morning Rebecca Nalepa's body was found naked hanging from a balcony in the mansion. Police say her hands and ankles were bound. Investigators have said Shacknai's girlfriend's death and his child's serious fall are *not* connected. The neighbor we talked to says she frequently saw the boy at the Hotel del Coronado Sports Facility.

The neighbor said, "The child was familiar with the house. He's athletic. He swims--playing in the pool alot."
