6-28 Police: crime news

EDMOND — Edmond cops recover stolen car from Yukon

Officers on patrol near Arcadia Lake stopped a car that turned out to be stolen from Yukon, police said.

At about 6 p.m. on June 20 two Edmond officers were sitting at the front gate to Arcadia Lake’s Spring Creek Park, 7200 E. 15th St., when an Oklahoma tag number came back stolen out of Yukon, according to a report filed by Edmond School Resource Officer Bervis Littles.

The officers stopped the white 1997 General Motors four-door hard top at 15th St. and I-35, police said. Michael Shane Larson, 21, of Oklahoma City, and two unidentified individuals were detained, police said.

When Littles told Larson he was in possession of a stolen vehicle he said he did not know it was stolen, police said.

Inside were three types of prescription drugs, and the suspect did not have a prescription for them, police said. Under the hood next to the battery was a “one hitter” pipe, and a small silver scale was found on the driver’s side of the car, police said.

Larson was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of CDS Schedule II and Schedule III and possession of drug paraphernalia. The car was impounded. Larson was transported to the county jail and booked.

Police log social host arrest

An Edmond man, 23, was arrested for violating the city’s social host ordinance during a weekend party in an apartment near the University of Central Oklahoma, police said.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday Edmond Police Officer Mason Long responded to a loud noise disturbance at 1015 Chowning Ave. on the bottom floor of Building A, according to a report filed by Long.

Long knocked on an apartment door and spoke with David Phillip Spielman, 23, who lived at the apartment complex, police said. Inside, empty beer cans were scattered throughout the kitchen and living room but no other individuals were in sight, police said.

One person was found hiding around the corner of the kitchen in a closet area, and several others were located in the back hallway, police said. Three people said they were under age 21, the legal drinking age in Oklahoma. One person said he had consumed four or five beers, police said. Two others said they had one or two beers.

Spielman said he bought beer for everyone to drink, police said. Police said they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the apartment that belonged to someone else.

Spielman was arrested for violating the city’s social host ordinance. Police seized the marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
