NEW DELHI News reports say two wild elephants have killed a man and injured other people on a rampage in southern India.

New Delhi Television news channel aired footage Wednesday showing the body of a man at the feet of one of the animals in the city of Mysore in Karnataka state. An elephant also kicked a cow.

Press Trust of India later reported that one pachyderm was trapped inside a farm and the other was tranquilized. It said several people were injured but no details were available.

Hundreds of people die in India annually when wild animals wander into cities as their habitats shrink and they have to range farther for food. Its parks face massive encroachment from people who live and forage in the forests or graze cattle there.
