Suspect Sought In Fatal Stabbing

Medic pronounced a stabbing victim dead at a residence on the southeast side and they have a suspect in custody.

Columbus Police officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Benie Court on a report of a stabbing.

Officers found the victim, 16-year-old Khalil Prater lying on the sidewalk with stab wounds to his upper body.

Prater was pronounced dead on the scene by medics.

Police arrested Jerome J. Looney Jr., 28,  and charged him with 1 count of murder. Looney is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Police said that the Looney and Prater were involved in a fight which led to Prater being stabbed.

This was the city’s 64th homicide of 2011.
