Crime dips again in Brant County

PARIS – Crime dipped again in Brant County in October, according to an OPP statistical report.

The report, presented to the county's police services board, reports that officers of the Brant detachment laid 539 criminal and Provincial Offences Act charges that month – down 6.3% from the same month in October 2010.

Year-to-date charges were also down 9.2%, as police laid 6,360 charges between January and October.

There were 67 Criminal Code charges in October – down 16.3% over the same month last year. But total criminal charges between January and October were still running 9.6% higher than the same period last year, at 742.

OPP also reported a dip in most areas of crime in its September report.

Here's a look at the criminal charges and cases investigated by category in October and the same month last year:

– Assaults – seven, down 61.1%;

– Break-ins – 13, down 13.3%;

– Mischief – 25, down 13.8%;

– Drug offences – five, down 75%;

– Impaired Driving – five, no change;

– Stolen vehicles – six, down 33.3%;

– Recovered stolen vehicles – nine, no change;

– Theft under $5,000 investigations – 18, down 14.3%;

– Disturb the peace calls – seven, up 133.3%.

Provincial offences charges and Highway Traffic Act tickets issued in October:

– Speeding – 281 tickets, down 11.4%;

– Moving violations – 59, up 59%

– Suspended driving – nine, up 33.3%;

– Seatbelt charges – 51, up 538%;

– Distracted driving – seven, no change;

– Liquor Licence Act violations – 11, down 26.7%.

Birther Joe Arpaio Makes 92 Arrests in Maricopa County Crime Sweep

Arizona birther Joe Arpaio is known for his "posses" and swift crime sweeps that render several people in tent city wearing pink and eating green bologna. His most recent crime sweep netted over 90 arrests, many of which were illegal immigrants.

Sources report that Joe Arpaio's latest crime sweep focused on human smuggling, DUI and drug related charges. Over 23 illegal immigrants were also apprehended. Recently, Arpaio came under media scrutiny when he announced his plans of piecing together a birther posse to investigate Barack Obama's birth certificate and citizenship. Not only is this man a vile, hateful sack; he's feeble. Barack Obama showed his short-form birth certificate in 2008, and then showed his long form birth certificate earlier this year. Furthermore, it's been repeated by nearly every news source around and the photographic evidence exists, of newspaper announcements of the POTUS's birth in Hawaii.

Although it's good that Arpaio is doing his job of protecting Maricopa County from human smuggling and druggie filth, he should probably focus less time and money on his moronic birther ideas. They're nonsensical and a total waste of resources. Hopefully no taxes are being used in his stupid posse.
