PSNI may use drones

Police in Northern Ireland may be considering using unmanned aerial drones to help tackle crime.

It is understood the force is considering the use of the mini drones to help combat crime, including the ongoing threat posed by dissident republicans.

The units, made by Canadian firm Aeryon Labs, are fitted with a camera that has the ability to automatically track suspects — relaying live pictures back to the ground.

Fitting into a rucksack, the drones can be assembled and deployed quickly and can reach speeds of over 30mph.
