(Newser) – OJ Simpson has managed to get himself in trouble again—from behind bars. After lunch, guards spotted the former football star, in a Nevada jail for armed robbery, concealing something under his prison outfit, according to the National Enquirer. Turns out there were more than a dozen cookies underneath, Gawker reports. "OJ just stood there with a goofy grin on his face as the guard kept digging inside his shirt and throwing the cookies on the floor," says the Enquirer's source. Simpson has been urged to cut down on sugary foods due to diabetes, the Daily Mail notes. But "the temptation of the cookies in the prison chow line was too much for him," says the source. "When the guard started pulling cookies out of OJ's shirt, the other inmates started laughing so hard they nearly fell over." His punishment, per the Mail: just a warning.

Pawn Shop Theft Caught On Camera
The suspect is accused of stealing a bracelet valued at $600.

Columbus Police and Central Ohio Crime Stoppers are looking for a man they believe stole a bracelet from a local pawn shop.
According to Crime Stoppers, at 4:21 p.m. on March 28, a man entered a pawn shop on the east side of Columbus.
An employee became distracted, at which point, security video shows the suspect reaching into the back of an unlocked display case and taking a bracelet.
The bracelet was valued at $600.
Central Ohio Crime Stoppers has posted a reward of up to $2,000 for any information received by July 6, 2011, leading to the arrest and/or indictment of the persons responsible for this crime. We have two stories to share today, both reports of crimes that are perplexing in their brutality.

Okay, we're going to get right to the Alaska crime story that is making us fume. In a nutshell, a 7-year-old girl was beaten unconscious Sunday by a man after she refused to give him her bicycle:
Neighbors say the man, 32-year-old neighborhood resident Byron Edward Syvinski, had reportedly taken a bag from a 17-year-old boy and rifled through its contents then given it back. When the boy’s father told Svvinski to leave, he punched the father in the face and head with a closed fist.
Svyinski then walked down the road, where he encountered the girl and initially tried to force her off her bike. Witnesses say he then punched her, knocking her to the ground where she lost consciousness, then punched her several more times while she was lying on the ground. Svyinski also went through the girl’s pockets, but witnesses didn’t see him take anything from her.
Upon arrival police ordered Svyinski to the ground. He became so combative that he had to be restrained with handcuffs on both his wrists and ankles, and was transported to a hospital.
Credit for the story goes to KTUU.com, an Anchorage television station website. But Gawker's take was pretty interesting, too. Glad this fellow is in custody.So is Isaiah Kalebu, who is standing trial in Seattle this week in connection with the brutal 2009 rape and murder of Teresa Butz and the rape and attempted murder of her partner.
The Seattle Times took readers to the night of the crime with stirring testimony from Jennifer Lutz, a neighbor who witnessed the women attempt to escape their assailant:
Lutz called for help, pleading with 911 operators to hurry as she watched her neighbors offer aid to the two victims.
Testifying in court Monday, Lutz recalled seeing Butz's body on the ground and her partner's screams of devotion as the partner was loaded into an ambulance.
Lutz was the first witness to testify Monday at the start of the trial of Isaiah Kalebu, 25, who is accused of the attack.
