Cops: Cuffed Woman Steals Her Pot Back, Eats It, Forgets Crumbs

(Newser) – Tavish Smith was having quite the night by the time she landed in the back of the cop car: Florida police say she was driving her truck the wrong way down a highway, crashed it, continued on, then crashed again—all while allegedly more than a little tipsy. But as Gawker notes, what happened next was truly inspired: Sitting in the back of the car, Smith slipped out of her handcuffs, and swiped a sandwich bag full of pot that police had confiscated from her vehicle. She then proceeds to eat its contents, thus destroying the evidence, right?

She forgot about the backseat camera filming her little snack, and something even more basic: Wiping her mouth. Cops finally noticed the missing weed when they saw "pot on her hands and face" and "crumbs everywhere," reports WPLG. Unfortunately for Tavish, the charge of destroying evidence means that she's now facing a felony. Turns out, she also works for a Brevard County judge; she's currently been suspended from those duties.

Mom Steals Daughter's Identity to Become a Cheerleader

By JJ Duncan on When 33-year-old Wendy Brown showed up for high school cheerleader practice, a couple of the girls noticed she looked a little old for 15, but no one said anything.

"She did look a little insignificantly older, but you didn't want to question it," student Spencer Corpus told CBS News. "You just go aw, alright, whatever."

It turns out Brown, who has a criminal background involving identity theft, was posing as her daughter to pass herself off as a student at Ashwaubenon High near Greenbay, Wis. The plot sounds like something taken right out of a teen high school movie, but instead of ending on a big kiss, this plot ended with an arrest.

Brown was discovered when she failed to show up for school for four consecutive days and the check for her cheerleader uniform bounced.

When school officials investigated Brown's background, they found that her daughter was still living in Pahrump, Nevada.

Benz Bandit With Oklahoma Ties Steals Luxury Cars

Michael Konopasek, News 9

ALTUS, Oklahoma -- Police in at least four states are looking for an Oklahoma man accused of stealing nearly $250.000 worth of luxury cars.

He's been dubbed the "Benz Bandit" across the country and the alleged con man calls Altus his home.

Police said he picked up his first ride in Indiana.  Add Illinois, Missouri, and Florida to the mix, and he has been quite busy.

Twenty-two-year-old Justin Durbin is wanted by police across the country.

Surveillance video shows Durbin at a suburban car dealership in Indiana.  Police said he approaches the dealer for a test drive and once he's given the car, he never returns.

He has been accused of stealing three Mercedes and, most recently, a $98,000 Bentley in Naples, Florida.

Even though people remember him from his days in Altus, his former neighbors said they haven't seen Durbin in about two years.

Police in Altus said they have not been contacted by police departments from the other states in which Durbin is believed to have stolen cars.
